We have reached another milestone in this Campaign. The 4th Extended Goal has been crossed!

Caulker

Lore As a ship navigates the clouds, it does more than just ferry goods and occupants- it launches, dodges and sometimes takes attacks. In comes The Caulker, patching up the pieces and ensuring the ship continues to soar above the skies. With her custom-made tools and unparalleled ability to spot the most minute issue, this is one repairman a ship can never do without. 

In-game The caulker will repair a ship by +1HP for any AP used in the turn, regardless of what the AP was for. It stores 4 HP.

Armorer  

Lore: Waking up well before sunrise, The Armorer readies the ship for the unexpected. Her knowledge of weaponry is unparalleled; her opinions, constantly sought by her peers. It is no menial task, the duties of The Armorer - for it is she who ensures a ship will never be caught off-guard with weapons empty. Many a ship has been saved because of her caution and preparation.  

In-game: The armorer automatically loads 4 attack dice at the start of each turn. It stores 4HP.

I am truly at a loss of words, to try and describe this overwhelming awe and gratitude that I am felling right now. As a team, we are grateful, humbled, touched by the sheer magnitude of warmth and support shown to us by all of you. 

Avertigos South China Sky is funded and can be made because of you!

When we conceptualised Avertigos our fondest hope was to have a very special game. A game that could bind together a community, a community that would cohesively and enthusiastically work together. A community that would be a safe place to exchange ideas and share the fruit of passionate labor (whether it be masterful or hopeful).  

We had imagined that if we did everything right such a community would emerge around our game over time. Little did we know that in this short journey through Kickstarter we will already find the beginnings of the community we could only have hoped for. 

From volunteering time and effort to contribute knowledge and skills to taking creative risks. From detailed discussions on strategy and lore to a shared love for this game. You have already given us much, and for this we are truly grateful.   

In today's world of online social promotion, we were more connected with breaking news and global events than ever before. The world had a very scary, rocky, hard and heartbreaking month. Our own small inconvenience and apprehensions seemed trivial when compared to the global and local events that occurred during our campaign. 

That we are here, is only because you formed a rock solid core of ardent support that refused to bend, sway or abandon us. For this too, we are truly grateful.   

Know that you have touched our hearts and inspired us to make the best game we possibly can and then, improve it with your participation. 

We will be taking some time to land from this incredible high we are on. We will be back with details and plans for the way forward tomorrow.

Community, Upgrades and Combos, BackerKit

As we come to the close of the Kickstarter phase of the Avertigos Journey. I would once again like to thank this community for backing us and beyond that giving us feedback, insight and encouragement. 

The closing of the Kickstarter is not the end of this journey - rather just its very beginning. We didn't come to Kickstarter just to sell a game. We came to Kickstarter to seed a community of enthusiasts, evangelists and creators. We have big plans for Avertigos and we believe that with this community/collective/cabal we have here, we can achieve and surpass them. 

We wanted to make sure that all you Avertigos can derive maximum satisfaction from participating in our endeavour. Not just in seeing and making this rich, creamy, deep game system emerge but also in terms of actual quantifiable returns.

This is not to say that we don't appreciate our non-game backers. Friends and Family and well-wishers from around the globe who have backed us without a reward or for the commemorative miniature, we thank you for your love and support and will work hard to make you proud.  

We have moved to lock in great value for all those participating in the game tiers of this Kickstarter. We have ensured this with the following:

1. All Hero Cards are unlocked from the Community Achievements. These cards will eventually retail as packs of 4 cards for USD 6 (SGD 8)

2. We have unlocked all 6 of the Master Modules. These are Kickstarter Exclusive modules that we have made as tournament playable. This is not the same as pay to play. The Masters are indeed unique looking, fun to play and have impressive stats. However, our tournament system accounts for that and is engineered to make the fights still fair. I will release an entire update explaining the Tournament system and how the Masters fit into it soon. While it is difficult to determine the eventual market value for the Masters (as these are not intended to hit retail) we have assumed a very conservative price of just SGD 10 per module. 

3. The Pirate King (Miniature and Scenario Booklet), Solo-play Kit, Upgraded Pilot Boards and Plastic Gems have been unlocked to add more real value to the game, and at the same time add that extra bling to a game we hope will take the place of pride in your collections.

By the 29th of October the BackerKit Pre-ordering system will be live. While the Early Bird sets will no longer be available we will continue collecting last-minute orders on that platform for 45 days - that's when everything need to go for production. 

Before that we will be working closely with the Panda Games people and our shipping and distribution partners.

Hello everyone, 

We went down to an event to showcase Avertigos, and it went well. We'll be seeing some new backers coming in over the next few days.

We'd just like to remind our backers that although the campaign ends soon, we will still be able to pursue our Stretch goals through Backerkit. Backerkit will do its survey in two weeks, then will run for 45 days as we work with Panda games to finalise everything, meaning we'll still be unlocking Stretch Goals till the end of November. We've many things planned for this period, so stay tuned!

Unlocking Social Goals and Attaining Community Achievements

This has been a long campaign and this Community has been amazing. From Joux A coming froward to translating our manual into French to Robert Lewis writing a masterpiece in story telling for our world. (In-case the embedded link in the picture, in update 33, was not obvious here is a link to his masterful story-telling.) To our backers Allan, JF. Maxim, Alan, Gennadii, Brian all contributing their time to play-test and record sessions of the game and provide feedback

This Community's outreach activity on our behalf has also been exemplary and so has been the Community's participation in conversations in the comments section and input sent to us in messages.

In the upcoming hours, we will need this community to extend itself even further in an effort to reach out on our behalf. In honour of this, the team has decided to give everyone here a gift and unlock all remaining Hero cards as well as The Social goals of Recessed boards and the Pirate King miniature. (More information on both these will be released soon) 

I will also be updating the campaign page shortly. 

We at Avertigos would like to give a shoutout to Capital Games Studio, and their game Debtzilla!

Another local game company, we here really love the look of their game, and the premise - Debtzilla is the first ever board game that merges the Superhero genre with the financial world! 

From what we can tell, players and reviewers have found the game to be fun and with high replayability; and were also intrigued by how they've learnt more about debt management as they played the game without realising it.

The Manual is still a work in progress (and will be till the point of publishing) as we try to streamline the information flow and the illustrations. We welcome constructive feedback to help us improve this presentation.

Solo Play

As you may have already become aware, here at Playware Hobbies we subscribe to the Procedural school of game design. We have designed the system and core probability set of Avertigos to have a deeply satisfying gradual, yet steep learning curve. This is reflected primarily in our 64 movement cards and how they interact with the physical height and tactile movement speed elements on the table. It’s also evident in the 100k+ combinations possible in ship creation, and the way we have meticulously refined the strategy board using game theory and graph theory.  

We’re hardcore gamers ourselves here at Playware Hobbies, and we’ve dreamed of creating a solo mode for Avertigos. We have been interacting with several of our backers, as well as the solo play community, to figure out what our take on Solo Play would be. I am extremely proud to announce that we are going to be releasing a unique Solo Play system and sandbox to go with our singular game.

Our Solo Play system will comprise of three components: 

 - The first component will be a standard set of 24 AI programming cards that can be  either stacked or random, and will be used in conjunction with our movement card  deck to control the AI movement.

 - The second component is our formation flight template, which can be used to create many combinations of enemies (think boss fights!) to use as the NPC units. (You create the enemy unit's stats by combining modules on ships and then putting them on the FFT to create a mega unit that moves and acts as one). 

Specific rules for the Formation flight movements and actions will be released as a stand alone instruction sheet. Formation Flights can also be used to play one-on-many PvP battles. Think Evolve

 - The third component is going to be our template for a Campaign booklet. The  campaign booklet itself consists of two parts – character stat and ability sheets and a campaign comprising of one or more pre-programmed narrative scenarios. 

To add to this, we will release hero units specifically for solo play from time to time (Let's unlock the Pirate King). The intent, clearly, is to have a Solo Play mode which can be added to continuously both by us and by the many wonderful members of the community, creating a plug and play system that has potentially endless replayability. 

The Solo-Play Kit comprising of 24 AI cards and the Formation Flight template will be added to all Avertigos Base Kits. 

Accompanying this will be our first campaign booklet made through community collaboration. It was our ardent hope that we communicate our passion and vision for the wonderful world of Avertigos. One of the greatest joys of working on this project has been meeting kindred spirits from across the world. We are very proud to say that we have some masterful story-tellers in this community already.

Outreach, Events and Demonstrations

With a majority of our support coming from Singapore, we will be spending the final hours of the campaign demonstrating the game at various events, stores and game-cafes in Singapore. This is to ensure continued community and retailer support during the rest of the campaign and during the BackerKit phase. We will be posting a final (in-campaign) update on Sunday Afternoon Singapore time (this will include information about upgrade options and combo buys). We will try to continue and be responsive in the comments section so please help us keep the conversation going. 

When this community mobalizes it is capable of doing great things. We still have heroes to attain, so help us get the word of this campaign out to as many people as possible.
